Switchcraft was a BAFTA-nominated story-driven mobile game that combined match-3 gameplay with an interactive, choice-driven narrative, similar to a visual novel. Set in a modern magic academy, it followed a diverse cast through an unfolding mystery, where player decisions shaped relationships and outcomes. It was developed as a narrative-driven experience, bringing gameplay, storytelling, and a distinct visual identity into a cohesive whole.
Team & Collaboration
Switchcraft was built through close collaboration across disciplines. Writers, designers, and artists worked in alignment, allowing narrative, gameplay, and visual identity to evolve together rather than in isolation.
A key part of this process was building shared ownership and trust, especially under the pressures of scale and remote production. The strength of the project came from this alignment and the ability of the team to adapt, grow, and support each other over time.
The art team in particular played a central role in achieving the final quality. Their commitment, development, and ability to handle both complexity and volume made this one of the strongest teams I have worked with.
